Second class
In more ways than one.
Second watercolour class yesterday. When the instructor pinned up the painting we’d all be attempting, I thought, oh, thatone. I remembered it from the first time I took the course several years ago. Back then, after being moderately pleased with my first effort, I was disappointed in my second. Perhaps, I thought, I’ll make a better job of it this time.
Forgot I had my camera with me until after the third step.
Sky and mountains, like week one.
Steps 4, 5 and 6: “Scumble” the water, add island, add trees.
Oh, and attempt to add birds.
The young woman beside me agreed this was far less satisfying than last week. “Who,” I muttered, “do I dislike enough to give this to?” She laughed, then said that the previous week’s effort was on her mother’s fridge. This one would not be added.
Came home and pulled out my first attempt at this painting all those years ago. Compared the two.
Hmm. Prefer yesterday’s sky and maybe the birds (although not by much). Other than that I’m far happier with the original.
Definitely did not do better the second time around.
On the plus side, two more students were wearing masks.
