Apple be damned
A really quite lovely day in the week. So much so that in the afternoon I asked a friend if she wanted to go to the pub for dinner. It was warm enough to sit outside. First meal out since they lifted the mask mandate and abandoned vaccine passports. For those who have visited me, you know how wonderful the view is from the deck at the pub. I would have taken a picture, but I couldn’t. It was heaven to be there.
Elsewhere, another of the never-before-flowered rhodos has opened up out back, along with the always reliable purple one at the front of the house. The never-before-seen flower is a lovely mauve. I’d take a picture, but I can’t.
Well, that’s not quite true. I could take a photo with my Nikon digital camera, but, as I discovered two years ago after I allowed myself to be persuaded to replace my slow-as-molasses Toshiba with a reconditioned Mac, said Mac does not recognise my digital camera when I plug in its USB. That’s how I ended up with a friend’s old iPhone 6. It was a replacement camera with a flashlight and step counter.
Yes, the battery on the iPhone died last week. On the very same day that Apple announced the iPhone 6 was now a legacy product (or some such bullshit term) and would therefore no longer be supported with things like, you know, batteries. Bastards.
As I’ve mentioned before, I hate Apple. I’ve always hated Apple. I have never hated Apple as much as I did that day. Planned obsolescence. Bastards.
Fortunately, as friends pointed out to me, one is not completely reliant on the evil stepmother company. There are shops in town that help out mobile phone owners who’ve been tossed aside by Apple. A phone call yesterday confirmed that, yes, one of them does still have iPhone 6 batteries and, even better news, it is within walking distance of the ferry, so even though I am being forced to go to town again, at least I don’t have to take the car. In fact, I’ve arranged to go over with my friend Donna and have a bite of lunch somewhere, so it won’t just be an annoying trip forced on me by Apple. Bastards.
Bastards. But hey, silver linings, eh? 😊
Indeed. 🙂
