My summer project, part two
An overcast day with rain in the forecast, so time to write an update.
I am pleased to report that the landscaping on the left hand side of the house is now complete. (The trick is knowing when to stop. I could have kept going on this for another week, but I did not. Well done, me.)
Before I tackle the other side of the house, it’s time to have a look at what I laughingly refer to as the “back forty”.
Wait a minute. Didn’t I spend days last summer removing all the weeds from the path? Yes, I bloody well did. And now I’m going to have to do it all over again. Bloody nature.
But before I get to the path (a job so tedious it can wait), I must see to the rock garden.
Yes, okay, you can see some of the very large rocks after which this part of the property is named. But there is a lot you can’t see.
For example, you couldn’t see that – thanks to my friend Krys – I have not just a mummy parrot living here with the flamingos, but two baby parrots, too.
With the rock garden sorted, it’s time to tackle “landscaping” the other side of the house.
Yikes! This is going to be a big job. Yesterday I made a start. It’s going to take at least a week to get the job done, but what a difference one day can make.
Pretty good, eh? Unfortunately this is but one small section. Still, a satisfying start, providing a sense of how great it will look when it’s finished. Definitely merits a celebratory G&T.
