Not one of those days

September 22, 2019

I’ve made a commitment to write every day and, happily, most days it’s actually quite easy to start stringing words together. This is not one of those days.

I’m sure I could think of something to write about, but the clock is ticking. I have to leave in a couple of hours for a rehearsal. That may sound like bags of time, but it isn’t. I read too late last night, got up too late this morning. All I can hear in my head is tick tock.

So this is going to be bloody random.

Short pause while I have a shower – one of those things that need to be done before I head out.

It’s pouring with rain again, so good thing I got the rest of the firewood stacked yesterday. I’m feeling it – all that bending – in the back of my legs today. Perhaps I should have done some warm up and cool down stretches, but it’s so long since I did any regular exercise that it didn’t occur to me. I really should try to budget to get back to the gym.

Discovered something interesting while I was having my (probably last this year) coffee outside yesterday. Apparently I was invisible when I was sitting under the umbrella. Well, invisible to the Steller’s jays. Me being outside didn’t seem to bother them at all when they were attacking the peanut feeder. Yesterday, sans umbrella, they didn’t like it at all, perching on the roof of the house, the roof of the (non-functioning) generator housing and on branches, squawking at me to go away. Greed would occasionally overcome one of them and he’d swoop in for a nut. When I’d finished my coffee I came inside for five minutes. When I went out again, all the peanuts were gone.

I’m feeling a bit miffed about one of my recent posts. Not a peep, not a like or any comment on What a pillock. Neither here nor on my official Facebook page, where I also posted it. C’mon, folks, let’s have a little give and take here. This is the biggest scandal in Canadian politics at the moment. No one had anything to say? For heaven’s sake, I got seven likes on the Joke of the day. Perhaps that is telling me something. Perhaps I’ll think about it when I’m not in such a rush. Still, if anyone does have anything to say about Justin Trudeau’s predilection for blackface, please say it.

Okay, that’s it. Fifteen minutes are up. Time to feed the jays and myself and do some rehearsal prep.
