Countdown
In three days, I will be departing for la vie en rosé. Ooh la la!
I haven’t had a proper vacation since 2002. Yes, there have been trips back to the UK, but those all involve rushing around London and the country to see friends and family. It really doesn’t count as a proper vacation.
This isn’t just a vacation, it’s an adventure. A month with my guy in a medieval village in southern France.
It’s a hilly village.
Our little rental flat is at the bottom of the hill. As I’ve said more than once, with all those steep climbs I’ll either be coming back very fit or in a box.
A month of not having to do anything. What luxury.
Ignoring the news from the rest of the world as much as possible. Bliss.
Yes, we’ll be checking the CBC website the day before we leave to find out who ends up winning the Canadian federal election. (Please not Pee Pee, please not Pee Pee.)
I suppose that’s when we’ll find out if there’s been a MAGA invasion and if we actually have a country to which we can return. (Just kidding. Suspect we’d hear from someone here if that happened.)
It’s also going to be interesting to find out how far my limited French – which I sincerely hope improves – will get me. Translation app installed on my phone. Souhaites-moi bonne chance. (Yes, I used the app for that.)
Ça va être fantastique! (No, I didn’t use app for that.)

Hey, I hope you and Dirk have a great time in France. I look forward to seeing updates and pictures of your adventure
