Shameful admission

May 11, 2024

Other than trimming the blackberry back some time in the winter, I hadn’t set foot in the garden until yesterday.

Bit of a shock when I did.

It wasn’t as bad as the day 14 years ago when I started the garden project.

But still a bit shocking.

Pleasant discovery one: There are lots of blossoms making the bees happy on the dwarf apple tree that didn’t produce a single flower last year.

Pleasant discovery number two: The first lilac planted many years ago has produced far more flowers than it ever has before.

Just a well, as my neighbour Pat’s house has been sold, so no more filling a vase from his tree. (Only one now. The new owners removed the second one.)

Sadly, no sign of flowers on any of the other three planted since.

Yes, there is a lot to be getting on with, but not today.

Now that the pollen’s finally stopped falling, I am concentrating on a different project.

Indeed very surprised you’ve not been in the garden until now. What are you doing with the deck?

I’ve been working in the garden but the job seems vast and my energy is limited. Also my attention span. Plus, it’s been raining a lot. Front yard looking pretty lush though the feverfew and rose campion are taking over. Not visible from this side:

The back is looking very lush, but messy.

Hope all is well. We’re car hunting which is always a pain.
