Go, Stephen!
If you haven’t seen the show, you’ve probably heard about it. On Monday night Stephen Colbert planned to interview James Talarico, a Texas representative who is competing with Representative Jasmine Crockett to be the Democratic candidate to challenge Republican John Cormyn in the mid-terms for his Senate seat.
CBS had other ideas, as Colbert explained at the beginning of his show. (Starts about 1.5 minutes in.)
So, yes, Colbert did it. After taping a regular-length show for broadcast, he did an extra segment for YouTube only.
Why is Talarico so dangerous? Don’t have time to watch? Okay, here’s my main take.
This devout Christian states clearly that religion has no place in government and that nothing about so-called Christian nationalists has anything to do with the teachings of Christ, who had nothing to say about abortion or gay marriage and a lot to say about “feeding the hungry, healing the sick and welcoming the stranger”. (Sound like the main priorities of any Christian nationalist you’ve ever had the misfortune to came across? No, I didn’t think so.)
Mighty dangerous talk, indeed. No wonder this evil dead administration did not want the interview broadcast.
Was this the end of it? No, of course not. CBS (the network that paid $16 million to the Wankmaggot to settle a bogus lawsuit to smooth the way for a merger, which everyone knew – and Colbert dared say was a big fat bribe, leading to the cancellation of his show) put its legal team in overtime to produce a two-paragraph butt-covering statement.
Lovely way to call bullshit, Stephen.
Oh, plus… The number of views of the interview is now up to nearly six million, which is more than twice the number of people who would have seen it on the network broadcast.
AND…
