Let the match begin
Yes, folks, today’s the day, the match about which we’ve all been salivating: the Prosecutor versus the Felon.
Will Kamala Harris eviscerate the Wankmaggot? God, I hope so. A fly landing on his head would be a nice touch, but she probably can’t get that lucky twice. That would be the cherry on the icing of what one hopes will be a very delicious cake.
What can we expect?
He will lie and lie and lie. That’s a given. Hope the cameras show both of them at all times, so we can see the side eyes (Harris is the queen of the side eye) she gives him or the eye roll and the laugh at the ridiculousness of what he’s just said. (Man, does he hate being laughed at. Tee, hee, hee.) Will he also reveal himself to be the misogynistic, racist asshole he’s always been? I doubt he’ll be able to stop himself. (Has he ever before?)
She will be calm and collected and hopefully not overstuffed with data and points she’s been told she has to make. She will not rise to any bait he throws her way. (He, on the other hand, will rise to any bait she manages to toss at him.) He will throw nothing but sucker punches, which I am reasonably confident she will dodge. Her job is to land the knockout punch if she can – the one that will cause him to lose whatever shit he has left.
Whatever happens, he will claim he won. Sadly, he will be half right. Half of the US population is clearly insane and doesn’t care how insane he sounds. In a sane country this would be a no brainer, not a 50/50 race. The news outlets that spoon feed the crazy half of the country will leap on any misstep Harris makes. (That’s assuming she makes one. If not, Fox and friends will just make one up.)
Speaking of friends… Over a burger and beer with some friends last week ago we realised we’d all been sitting at home alone joyfully watching the joyful Democratic convention – something we decided we shouldn’t do for this particular special occasion. So, it’s a debate dinner party tonight. I’m taking a bottle of wine, hoping it really should be a bottle of bubbly.
