Why am I doing it?

I don’t normally. In years past you couldn’t have paid me to watch any of the Republican National Convention, but for some reason I have been this week. I don’t know why. Car crash telly? Perhaps. But even with the raised eyebrows of Rachel Maddow it’s really quite challenging. Who are these people? How can they believe these things?

It stops today. Back to my usual approach – checking in with Stephen Colbert for the highlights.

Fast forward to about two minutes in. The words he put in Nikki Haley’s head following the opening remarks of her unexpected appearance had me roaring with laughter. (Mainly because they were so obviously true.)

And then there’s the Daily Show recap of the day. Nice to have Mr Stewart back for this.

Don’t have 17 minutes? Okay, fast forward three minutes to watch the bit on Ron Johnston, followed by Stewart’s reaction to Marjory Taylor Green’s speech yesterday. I was taking a sip of my spritzer during the latter and it nearly came out my nose.

I know you’re supposed to know your enemy, but sometimes it’s just too hard to take. Henceforth I am leaving the job of having to watch this crap to the well paid professional piss takers.
