A stroll down Digit Alley

June 22, 2024

Walks with Georgie and Joe are always lovely (even when it’s raining), but never more lovely than this time of year when the foxgloves and daisies are in full bloom.

It’s amazing how tall the foxgloves can get.

Thank you, Georgie for grudgingly agreeing to pose for perspective.

There are white foxgloves with yellow markings.

White foxgloves with purple markings.

Dark pink foxgloves with deep purple and white markings.

Also known as digitalis, foxgloves aren’t just pretty faces. Their dried leaves are used in heart medication, but can also be handy if there’s anyone you want to make very ill – or dead. Read on.

Foxgloves are so abundant on the trail we walked yesterday that Joe has dubbed it Digit Alley. Har, har.

No surprise then, as I reported after week seven of my watercolour course last year,,,

Plenty of other lovely forest and beach walks to be taken on the island, but whilst the foxglove fields remain in bloom, we’ll be repeating this one regularly.
