An unexpected treat
Yeah, yeah, I know I said I was going to try to write something every day and I will be doing that, although not necessarily here.
After stalling completely on the play I was hoping to finish during the “First Draft Club” meetings currently underway, I suddenly remembered a different one-act play, one I’d started several years ago and subsequently forgot all about.
So, instead of taking new scenes for The Challenge to the most recent meeting, I took what I had of The Waiting Room to be read. Very positive and quite encouraging feedback. Unlike The Challenge, I do know exactly what’s supposed to come next. And I’ve said I’ll get cracking to have more next Sunday. Need to do just that.
Speaking of plays (which I guess I am), something rather lovely happened yesterday. I was in the village and when I came out of one of the shops, a woman who’d been sitting in the car parked beside mine got out and walked up to me. “I just wanted to tell you how wonderful you were in the play,” she said. I thanked her. (This was by no means the first stranger who’s said the same thing since the performances, but, trust me, it never gets old.) Then she pulled out a business card, handed it to me and told me to call her about getting a free facial which, she said, I thoroughly deserved. Wow. A bit of pampering? Yes, I could certainly do with that.
Now I need to get back into The Waiting Room.
