What next?
It’s been quite a week.
Four great shows, four great audiences, four rounds of fulsome praise for my play – and getting to share all this with my very dear friend Catherine. Sorry to say she left this morning, but it was a lovely visit.
Several years ago Catherine and Bob moved to the interior, but she remains in her heart a coastal gal, so there were lots of beach walks.
Miracles abounded.
She managed to take a photo of me that I don’t actually hate. (Suspect it had a lot to do with the absence of the grey wig.)
And I managed to return the favour.
Last night, after dinner, to give her one last coastal moment, we headed down to the pub to watch the sun set.
Never disappoints. (Okay, forgot to take my camera with me, so this is from a previous pub sunset, but it is also pretty much what we got last night.)
Now, of course, with Catherine departed, it would be time for the Post Production Blues to settle in.
But wait! My mate Ray really wants me to write a play we could do together. What, oh, what could it be about? Wait again. Hold on second.
I actually started another play back in 2017 after Charlie and I did An Unhelpful Complication and he asked, “What’s next?” It started well (quite well, I’d venture to say), but got bogged down and never finished. Can’t even remember what I called it, but surely I can find it on the computer? Oh, yes: The Challenge.
Quick read. Really not at all bad. Good opening scene between Stephen and Kate. Quite zippy scene between Henry and Marian. Hmm. Definite possibilities.
Back to the pub in a bit to have lunch with Ray. I’ll see what he thinks.
And while I’m at it, I might ask him if he’d be willing to give me a couple of beginner guitar lessons. Ben did promise some, but god knows when that will be.
